Alright, let’s get into the 6 ads you can run in January to bring in big business!

New Year, New You Makeover 

It’s not just you looking to freshen things up in the new year…your clients are definitely all feeling that, too! 

The idea with this ad is to reframe your services as a powerful way to embrace the changes: A new year, new you, new look!

So if you’re a hairstylist, think about the “dramatic” services that offer clients a bold new look - that’s the kind of service you’ll want to promote with this type of ad. 

Permanent makeup artists - you know you’ve got the power to give your clients a full, dramatic new look for the new year…promote the heck out of your lip blushing, microblading, permanent eyeliner etc!

If you offer more than one type of beauty service, think about the ones you know from experience that are really popular in January (when people are often feeling blahhhh and need a pick-me-up!) and promote those in your ad. 

Themed facials and treatments: Bubbly, Cheers, Celebrate, etc

I love a good themed promo! 

This one is especially great for estheticians doing facials, but any kind of beauty professional can do this (yes, you too!) 

First, pick a theme for your promo: “celebrate”, “cheers to 2022”, etc. 

Once you’ve nailed down a theme, pick a service that you want to promote, and start adding fun little touches to the service to make it play to your theme: a glass of champagne, gold under-eye patches, or some fun stick-on nail art to go with their mani-pedi? 

Anything that you can add to the service to really tie your theme in will make the experience memorable for your client. 

Be sure to include all the details of your fun themed service in your ad! Give it a cute name like “Celebration Skincare Package” and you’re all set to start promoting! 

Skin Goals 

Estheticians, this one is for you! 

You know that having dramatically clearer skin, smoother skin, or whatever kind of transformation you help your clients achieve takes time and patience.

And a new year makes people want to set goals, as we all know by now. 

That’s why the theme for this month should be GOALS. What kind of skin goals do your clients have for 2022? How can you help them achieve these goals over time? How long will it take clients to see results, and what do they have to do or change to get there?

This is the perfect month to talk about goals in your advertising, and how your treatments tie into what they want to achieve. 

You can use this type of ad to share valuable education (“Here’s how long it takes to really change the moisture levels in your skin”) and share your product or service as the way to take steps towards their skin goals. 

Irresistible and perfect for that New Years’ resolutions crowd!

Retail for dry skin and hair, feet

Over the holidays I’m so busy with family, get-togethers, shopping, and cooking that I don’t take much time to care for myself. 

When the flurry of activity finally stops and I have a chance to take a good look at my feet and skin - yikes! 

The air is so dry! We need moisture! 

Whether you do hair, skin, or nails, now’s the time to promote your retail product for the dryness your clients almost certainly have. 

Promote them in your studio, but also try some Instagram and Facebook ads targeted to your clients to share the benefits and educate about them. 

You’ll be providing some muuuuuch needed skin relief for all the dry skin sufferers out there like me, so it will be a popular promo. Start it today! 

Valentine’s Day 

Valentine’s day is a big seller, and it’s coming up fast - you’ve got a month to plan and advertise for it (if you haven’t started already, don’t sweat: read on!) 

There are lots of ways to promote the season of love: Couples' services, “treat yourself” service packages or gift cards for the loves of your life. 

You can encourage clients to book early by offering pre-booking at a special price or offering extra little add-on services for prebookers. 

In terms of what to put in your promo as an added bonus, you know the standard: pink, hearts, bonus gifts of candy or chocolate - love, love, love, and all the sweetest things. 

You can easily promote and sell out of your more “luxurious” services for Valentine’s Day because pampering and love go hand-in-hand.

“Start New Routines” promotion

This is kind of similar to the Skin Goals promotion, but can be easily applied to other types of beauty pros: permanent makeup artists, waxers, hairstylists, even spray tanners! 

If the services you offer take a series of treatments (hair treatments, skin repair, microdermabrasion, permanent makeup services, etc) or good hygiene practices that require clients to get into a routine (like waxing or mani-pedis), January is the perfect time to encourage clients to start building that habit! 

In your ad, be sure to educate about the results clients can expect throughout the year if they start now - this is a great motivator for them to book ASAP! 

January tends to be a slower month for a lot of beauty businesses, so use this kind of promo to encourage clients to take charge of their health and beauty routines today! 

Bonus tip for deciding what to advertise

Here’s a tip if you’re still feeling a little stuck about what to promote in January: 

Anytime you’re not sure on what your clients want you to offer, or what would sell really well: 

ASK THEM! 

You’ve got the most underused way to get feedback and help right in your palm: your phone! 

You can hop on Instagram, do a quick Story poll or Story question box and ask your followers: 

“What kind of beauty struggles are you having in January?” 

You could also phrase it in a really positive, empowering way: 

What’s something you’d love to treat yourself with this month?” 

Make sure to choose answers based on services you’d like to sell more of or ones that have been really popular in the past - and run with those answers! Create your promos around what your clients really want. Simple and effective…when in doubt, always just ask! 

January can be a struggle for a lot of beauty businesses, but don’t worry. 

With a little bit of creativity, you can easily get your clients excited to try out new products, services, and packages. Even if it’s the same stuff you offered last year, a little bit of “repackaging” and promoting with a fun New Year theme can make the difference for you.
